PCORI Submits Comments on 21st Century Cures Act
In response to a request for comment on a discussion document titled the “21st Century Cures Act” released by the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 26, PCORI Executive Director Joe Selby, MD, MPH, submitted a detailed letter sharing PCORI’s thoughts and observations.
The letter began by noting “PCORI applauds the efforts of the House Energy and Commerce Committee to forge a bipartisan approach to speeding development of effective new therapies and to involving patients in the process. PCORI has proven that involving patients leads to better research questions and better research post-approval. We agree that engaging patients will improve technology development research, and PCORI stands ready to help.”
